Dr Naayil Rajabally is a registered medical gastroenterologist trained in diagnosing and managing diseases involving the gastrointestinal tract, liver and pancreas.
He practises at Mediclinic Constantiaberg which is part of Mediclinic Southern Africa representing the Southern African operations of Mediclinic Corporation, one of the largest private hospital groups in the world.
Dr Naayil Rajabally obtained his medical degree at the University of Witwatersrand in 2000. After working as a senior medical officer in various Internal Medicine specialties in the UK, he eventually returned to Cape Town to specialise in Internal Medicine at Groote Schuur Hospital/ University of Cape Town and received his Physician cap in 2008.
Dr Rajabally has developed an expertise in the management of complex Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, especially having worked with several world experts at Oxford John Radcliffe and Groote Schuur hospitals. He further specialises in Advanced Endoscopy including Barretts surveillance and its therapeutic management endoscopically, Endoscopic Mucosal Resection of early cancerous lesions in both the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, the use of Chromoendoscopy to detect obscure lesions in the gastrointestinal tract as well as Video Capsule Endoscopy.
After being awarded the Gastro Foundation Award in 2008 and being selected to attend an advanced post-graduate course in Gastroenterology in Amsterdam, he entered sub-speciality training in Gastroenterology at Groote Schuur Hospital/University of Cape Town. He completed his Gastroenterology training in 2011. He successfully completed his MPhil degree in Gastroenterology at the University of Cape Town on his research project on Clostridium difficile, which had also won the Discovery Foundation SubSpecialist Award.
Dr Rajabally was offered an amazing opportunity in 2012 to complete a Senior Clinical Fellowship at the Oxford University John Radcliffe Hospital in their world-renowned Gastroenterology Unit.
Dr Rajabally believes that is is vital to keep abreast of the latest developments in the field of gastroenterology. With this aim in mind, he takes time off his practice every year to travel abroad to attend international congresses, to work sided by side with experts in specific fields within gastroenterology and to attend workshops where the latest evidence, technological advances and endoscopic interventional techniques are discussed.
Dr Rajabally works with a highly experienced team delivering care in a comfortable, modern environment with state-of-the-art equipment. He works closely with Dr Shaikjee who administers procedural sedation to ensure a pleasant endoscopic experience. His goal is to enhance the health of his patients by providing them with inspiring gastroenterological care.
